TMC minister, MLA skip ED summons amid row over usage of central agencies

Amid a tussle between Trinamool and BJP over usage of central agencies, Trinamool Minister Moloy Ghatak and Baghmundi MLA Sushanta Mahato on Friday skipped Enforcement Directorate’s summon to the national capital in connection with alleged multi-crore coal scam. Meanwhile, CBI arrested another Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) former general manager today in connection with the coal pilferage scam.

Trinamool Minister Moloy Ghatak has informed ED that he is not responding to the summons as he is busy with the Presidential election. He also said that he will cooperate with the ED if it interrogates him in Kolkata. Mahato also skipped the summon today.

The central probe agency CBI arrested ECL former general manager Subhash Mukherjee today afternoon in connection with the same coal pilferage scam. He will be produced in court tomorrow. The agency has arrested seven persons, including two former general managers of the state-run ECL on Wednesday night and they were produced before a special court in Asansol on Thursday and remanded to five days of police custody.


Meanwhile, the CID team interrogated Bankura BJP MLA's Niladri Sekhar Dana's daughter on AIIMS Kalyani recruitment related irregularities for more than 2.5 hours at her residence. Daughter-in-law of another BJP MLA was also quizzed in this connection.
