TMC gives charge of East Bardhaman’s three assembly constituencies to Rabindranath Chattopadhyay

Ahead of the Panchayat polls, Trinamool Congress leadership gave the charge of East Bardhaman’s three assembly Constituencies, including Ayushgram, Ketugram and Mongolkot, to Rabindranath Chattoapdhyay, citing ease of functioning in absence of Birbhum District President Anubrata Mondal. Birbhum District President Anubrata Mondal was in-charge of the organization structure of these three constituencies for a long period, in addition with Birbhum district.

The new in-charge of these three constituencies is Rabindranath Chattopadhyay.

“These three constituencies were under Bolpur Lok Sabha Constituency. So, it was under Bolpur organizational structure. There were certain difficulties as these constituencies are under Bardhaman. So the Trinamool leadership took the decision,” Rabindranath Chattopadhyay said.


“For smooth running of the organizational network, these three constituencies have been brought under Rabindranath Chattopadhyay,” Debu Tudu, spokesperson, state Trinamool Congress reiterated. He ruled out any connection with the organizational change with Birbhum District President’s arrest.

Following Birbhum District President Anubrata Mondal’s arrest, who was a heavyweight District President, organizational work in these district is under party’s consideration ahead of Panchayat polls.

Meanwhile, opposition is vocal about the issue, saying Trinamool leadership is scared to remove Mondal from the post of Birbhum state President.

Sujan Chakraborty, CPI-M central committee member, said, “Trinamool is scared to offend Anubrata Mondal. If he opens his mouth, Mamata Banerjee’s nephew may get into trouble. So, it is a moderate approach by Trinamool.”

It is pertinent to mention, arrested former Trinamool Minister Partha Chatterjee was removed as a minister, who held three portfolios, and all his party posts, including the post of the party secretary general.
