Abhishek Banerjee's office demolished

Kokata: The South 24 Parganas district administration on Saturday demolished a Trinamool Congress office at Amtala linked to party MP Abhishek Banerjee, alleging it had been constructed without an approved building plan and in violation of applicable rules.

The action followed complaints of unauthorised construction and came after notices were issued and hearings conducted under the statutory process. The demolition was carried out using excavators amid heavy deployment of central forces, police and fire service personnel.

District administration officials said the proceedings were initiated in accordance with the law after receiving complaints and that the demolition was based on the outcome of the legal process and hearings.


"To those who are celebrating the demolition of the Trinamool Congress office and calling it "illegal," I want to remind you of a few facts. On 15 July, during a hearing, we asked the officials to provide a copy of the complaint on which the proceedings had been initiated. However, they failed to produce one," Banerjee claimed.
