"We (TMC) apprehend that this time too he will take steps which will either directly or indirectly help the BJP," Roy said at a press conference.
The ruling All India Trinamool Congress in West Bengal on Thursday wrote to the Election Commission, demanding the removal of Sudeep Jain, the deputy election commissioner in charge of elections in the state.

“We have serious doubt that Shri Sudeep Jain would be impartial, fair and his approach towards all parties would be equal for the reason that all his actions were favourable to or are tilted towards BJP and are undue, illegal and unconstitutional,” reads the letter written by Trinamool leader Derek O’ Brien. “We call upon you to withdraw Shri Sudeep Jain as in-charge on behalf of Election Commission of India for West Bengal assembly elections 2021.”

Soon after the Trinamool letter, a group of senior BJP leaders including union minister Dharmendra Pradhan, party general secretary Bhupender Yadav and Sanjay Mayukh met Election Commission officials in Delhi, and demanded the removal of Trinamool-appointed administrators from the state municipalities.

There are 135 municipal bodies in West Bengal, out of which 125 have completed their term of five years in April-May 2020.
