TMC bribery video: Will take note of opposition plea on sting, says Election Commission
KOLKATA: The Election Commission has said that it would duly examine the plea of Opposition parties on the sting operation that purportedly showed Trinamool leaders accepting bribes. The commission, however, did not specify any time frame. Responding to questions on sting operation, election commissioner AK Joti said: "This point was raised by the political parties. EC will examine representation from Opposition parties on West Bengal sting operation. We got the representation only yesterday (Monday)."

Chief election commissioner N Zaidi added: "The point is covered. This has been given to us and it will be passed on to the appropriate authorities." The commission expressed its concern over non-execution of 31,000 non-bailable warrants. According to the commission, 89,000 non-bailable warrants were executed. "31,000 nonbailable warrants were not executed and the progress is of course not up to the mark. We have expressed our concern. We have asked the administration and police officials to marshal all their resources and execute the pending warrants."

EC added that no civic volunteer should be used in the election process. The civic volunteers force has been raised by the ruling party for managing traffic and helping the police.
