KOLKATA: Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee and CPIM general secretary Sitaram Yechury may have shared the same platform at Nitish Kumar's swearing-in ceremony in Patna on Friday, but in Bengal, Trinamool Congress activists attacked CPI-M politburo member and party's state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra at his assembly constituency Narayangarh, in West Midnapore district, on the very same day.

It appears that though both TMC and CPIM are opposing BJP nationally, but in Bengal the two are still bickering.

Mishra had gone to his constituency to lead a rally, where he was attacked by Trinamool activists. After the attack, Mishra tweeted, “The protest march continues in Narayangarh despite Trinamool's attempt of disruption. The increased mobilisation is actually increasing Trinamool's fear.” The Left parties condemned the attack on Mishra’s in Kolkata on Friday.

CPIM central committee member and convenor of the steering committee of Bengal Platform of Mass Organisations (BPMO), which is leading the rally, said, “The Trinamool Congress is afraid that thousands of people are joining our rallies, and that's why they are attacking us.”
