Tiwari to be sworn as Andhra Governor

Veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari will be sworn in as the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday.

HYDERABAD: Veteran Congress leader N D Tiwari will be sworn in as Governor of Andhra Pradesh at the Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

High Court Chief Justice G S Singhvi will administer the oath of office and secrecy to Tiwari at 0945 hrs, officials said on Tuesday.

The former chief minister of Uttarakhand and four-time chief minister of undivided Uttar Pradesh arrived here on Tuesday to a warm welcome.

Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy, his cabinet colleagues and a large number of Congress leaders received Tiwari at the airport.

Tiwari later inspected a guard of honour.

He was named the Governor of Andhra Pradesh on August 19. Orissa Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who was holding additional charge of Andhra Pradesh, was shifted to Karnataka to complete his remaining term.
