Tipra is demanding a separate state of Tipraland. Party President B.K. Hrangkhawl, MLAs Animesh Debbarma, Brishaketu Debbarma, Biswajit Kalai reached Guwahati.
Barman is likely to hold a meeting with Assam chief minister and North-East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Deb Barman last week said that union home minister Amit shah called him up and assured to appoint an interlocutor for talks by March 27.
As the interlocutor was not announced, the TMP chief was mulling fast unto death. He told media persons in Agartala on Wednesday that he has received a call from Sarma to meet in Guwahati. “If government appoints an interlocutor it is okay or we will sit in opposition and the government knows what we can do sitting in opposition.”
BJP in the run up polls has ruled out the creation of a separate state.
