Ties with India are on 'very good term': China

NEW DELHI: Notwithstanding recent recriminations, China on Wednesday said its relations with India were on a "very good term" and that the leaders of the two countries are committed to advance the ties in a "cooperative and mutually beneficial" manner.

"Nothing should be worried or concerned (about)," Chinese Ambassador to India Zhang Yan told reporters here when asked to comment about the recent war of words between India and China on Arunachal Pradesh and some other issues.

"Our relationship is on a very good term and our leaders and officers-in-charge, including the Chinese Embassy, are committed to advance our relationship in a cooperative and mutually beneficial way," he said.

China recently objected to the visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Arunachal. India responded strongly to it and even went ahead to question China's participation in projects in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Zhang said India and China have a lot of common positions on climate change issues and both sides are committed to work closely for the success of the December Copenhagen Summit.
