Ticket battle in Kerala Congress: MLA Benny Behanan withdraws candidature
KOCHI: The dispute over the candidate list in the Congress has aggravated with the Thrikkakkara MLA Benny Behanan announcing that he is withdrawing from the race for tickets for the assembly polls.

Benny said he is withdrawing because KPCC president V M Sudheeran is against his candidature. Sudheeran has suggested other names for Thrikkakkara.

It was a dispute between KPCC president VM Sudheeran and Chief Minister Oommen Chandy over the candidates list in Thrikkakkara and 4 other constituencies that led to the delay in the announcement of Congress’ list. The party High Command is expected to announce the list on Monday or Tuesday.

It is said the High Command has yielded to Chandy that his cabinet colleagues, K Babu, Adoor Prakash, K C Joseph, and the two MLAs Benny and Dominic Presentation should not be removed.
