Three men arrested in beautician gang-rape case in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: Three persons were arrested on Wednesday for raping a 25-year-old beautician at Celebrity Layout near Electronics City . The incident reportedly took place on Sunday.
The victim was from Bhutan and the assailants hailed from Assam. The former is employed in the city for the past six months.

Mehaboob alias Babu, Khaled and Bakhtiyar, all aged 22 and from Karimganj district in Assam, were taken into custody. "They worked in a hotel near Electronics City . The three were presented before a magistrate and are now in judicial custody ," DCP (Southeast) MB Boralingaiah said.

According to the Electronics City police, the victim and the accused were friends.

"On Sunday, they partied at a restaurant in Hebbagodi. Later, they went to the house of the one of the accused, at Celebrity Layout and raped the woman,“ police said. The victim filed a complaint the same day , based on which the police arrested the trio on Wednesday . Meanwhile, the police await the results of a medical test to see if the perpetrators had consumed alcohol or drugs.

Last October, a 23-year-old BPO employee was raped by two men in a Tempo Traveller she boarded in Electronics City .
