Three killed, several injured in Guwahati blast

GUWAHATI: A powerful explosion in the parking yard in the busy Maligaon market area in Guwahati has left three dead and several injured on Monday.

According to police sources, the casualty figure is expected to increase. In the span of a about a week, this is the second explosion in the city. The injured were rushed to Guwahati medical college and railway hospital

Intelligence inputs have warned that Ulfa may go for a major offensive prior to its rising day on April 7.

This explosion has taken place at a time when security in the state is put under maximum alert following the planned visit of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Dibrugarh on April 7.
