UNNAO (UP): In an apparent reference to the BJP, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav today alleged that those who won 325 seats in the recent Uttar Pradesh polls were weaning away his MLCs as they were was not willing to face the public again.

The BJP along with its NDA partners had bagged 325 seats in the Assembly polls earlier this year.

"People are evaluating the works. So, those who had recently won 325 seats and who have to face the people (again) for entering the Assembly do not have the courage to do and therefore are weaning away our MLCs," Yadav who was here to attend a private function at a SP leader's house told reporters.

SP MLC Sarojini Agarwal today resigned from the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council and joined the BJP. In total, three Samajwadi Party MLCs have resigned from the house in the last few days.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and four of his ministers have to seek election to either of the two houses to retain their ministerial post.

"Those who have to part ways with the party will do so and we are not stopping anyone," Akhilesh said.

"I want to know what is the fear... They had shown the dream of 'achchey din' and befooled people to come to power at the Centre and the state... They have broken the confidence of the people," he said.
