Those following Godse’s ideology can’t understand Gandhism: Rahul Gandhi

WARDHA: On the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Congress called for a “second freedom struggle” against those pursuing divisive politics. The party claimed the Modi government was following a “politics of threat and intimidation”.

The CWC which met at the Sevagram Ashram here passed a resolution slamming the BJP-led Centre for “crushing debate and dissent” and following a policy of “subverting all constitutional values, principles and practices”. The CWC also condemned lathi-charge on the farmers gathered on the Delhi-UP border.

Party chief Rahul Gandhi said “those who follow the ideology of Godse cannot understand Gandhism”.


Later in a speech, Rahul said: “Gandhiji gave his life for his core values. But wherever Modi goes, he creates hatred and anger.”

He added: “He (Modi) promised `15 lakh in your account, he promised to create 2 crore jobs each year, he promised that farmers would get adequate price for their crops... All of the promises have turned out to be false. He has lied to you.”

Rahul said: “Modi said he was a chowkidar. I want to ask what kind of chowkidar is he that he snatched a contract from HAL and gave it to a man with no experience of making any aircraft and who formed his company just 10 days before signing the Rafale deal. Modi helping Anil Ambani is symptomatic of the BJP rule and all that the BJP has done is to help a chosen few industrialists.”

“While Modi made you stand in line outside banks during demonetisation, people like Anil Ambani Vijay Mallya, Nirav Modi, Mehul Choksi, all friends of Modi, entered banks from backdoor and converted their money from black to white.”
