Arvind Kejriwal government has planned a one-year-in-office gift for people of Delhi as it is considering waiving of Rs 2,800 crore worth of water bills pending against consumers Rs 1,900 crore being the bill amount and the remaining as penalty.

Sources claim a Cabinet note is ready with the government to waive off 100% due and penalty in G and H categories, 75% in E and F, 50% in C and D, and 25% in A and B categories.



Ahluwalia’s contribution

The second volume of President Pranab Mukherjee’s memoirs hasn’t embarrassed any major political functionary except for SS Ahluwalia, BJP MP from Darjeeling. In a nugget about 1991 LS polls, Mukherjee reminisces that it was Ahluwalia who coined ‘Ma beta ka yeh balidaan, Yaad Karega Hindustan’ poll slogan after Rajiv Gandhi’s assassination. Interestingly, Ahluwalia was first sent to RS after Indira’s assassination.

In all likelihood, Ajay S Shriram, the chairman of DCM Group, will be heading the Board of Governors for the IIM at Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. While formal orders are yet to be sent out, Shriram is learnt to have given his concurrence for the job.



Pachauri claims 650th wicket

At least, there is one reason to “rejoice” for RK Pachauri. For, the climate scientist recently took his 650th cricket wicket in a corporate cricket match.

In the match, Pachauri scalped two wickets by clean bowling two level batsmen who have played Ranji in the past. Pachauri had celebrated his 600th wicket in December 2013 by throwing a small party on the fifth floor of Teri and had invited some former cricketers.
