What's your name? Samajwadi Party MP and actor Jaya Bachchan objected to Rajya Sabha deputy chairperson Harivansh using her full name Jaya Amitabh Bachchan when inviting her to speak in the House. She said women have a standing of their own, irrespective of their husband and she should be referred to as Jaya Bachchan. Harivansh clarified that he is only using the name as listed in the gazette notification. When the matter escalated to Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar, he ruled that Bachchan can make alterations in her name as mentioned in the gazette by following a laid down procedure. Dhankhar said he had done the same when he was a member of the 9th Lok Sabha.

Union minister Jitendra Singh recently received life-time achievement award in Chennai for his “dedication to the advancement of diabetology, diabetes care and diabetes research”. Singh is a practicing doctor who has worked extensively in the field of diabetes care. The award has been given to him specifically for his work on diabetes among pregnant women.

Rajya Sabha members, visitors and the press have noticed that there is an issue with the acoustic system in the house. one can hear the echo when a person is speaking, be it the chair or somebody from the floor. the problem gets aggravated during dull moments in a debate when the house has a thin attendance and the galleries are almost empty.
