Third eye: Saying it with diamond map, losing polls and bungalow, and on the Road to m-ticketing

Govind Dholakia, a diamond merchant and BJP Rajya Sabha MP, was the centre of attention inside the Parliament complex on Tuesday. A day earlier, Dholakia gave PM Modi a 2 carat 12 cent diamond shaped like an Indian map. He described how difficult it was to create such a one-of-a-kind item, and how two diamonds had broken during previous tries. Dholakia called the composition 'NavBharat Ratna'.

Losing polls and bungalow

After losing the assembly election, it appears that Haryana Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda would have to leave his government bungalow in Chandigarh. The state government has ordered Hooda to vacate the official house because Congress has yet to pick a leader of opposition. Vipul Goyal, Haryana's state minister, desired the bungalow and applied for it as well.

On the Road to m-ticketing

Bengal transport minister Snehasis Chakraborty said Kolkata residents may now buy state-run bus tickets using the 'Yatri Sathi' mobile app. The service would start on 12 airport lines and expand, he added. After selecting the route and paying via UPI on the app, commuters will receive a QR-coded ticket. The conductor will use a gadget to verify. The minister said the cashless system streamlines payments and encourages digital adoption, advancing the city's smart mobility transition.
