Salute order in MP raises eyebrows: The Madhya Pradesh police is facing flak over a new order by the DGP according to which the police personnel at police stations and other places will have to salute MPs, MLAs, state and central ministers. The Opposition has taken this chance to attack the government for "promoting a colonial mindset" in the administration. Some BJP leaders, too, are not comfortable with the order as they say public representatives are not kings and they should rather focus on people than the ceremonial respect.

Search for new UGC chief continues: While central universities, IITs and NITs often run without a full-time head for months together, this time the apex higher education regulator — University Grants Commission — is also on the waitlist for a new head. While M Jagadesh Kumar retired as UGC chairman on April 8, his successor is yet to be decided and the reason being: the searchcum-selection committee is still holding meetings.

For Jadhav, Fadnavis is like 'captain cool': Former Indian cricketer Kedar Jadhav recently joined the BJP unit in Maharashtra. When asked about why he joined the BJP, Jadhav was all praise for CM Devendra Fadnavis and compared him with "captain cool" Mahendra Singh Dhoni. Jadhav claimed that like Dhoni, Fadnavis had a calm demeanor and did not wilt under pressure and got victory under adverse circumstances.
