PM Modi has been keeping a close eye on everything connected to his pet project Swachh Bharat. Recently, he wrote a letter to Pune woman Prachi Deshpande, praising her for starting organic farming on rooftop from the waste collected from the neighbourhood and temples. The PM said her contribution will bring in positive changes in society.

Surjewala precedent
Congress brass, urging EC to invalidate the votes of two rebel Gujarat Congress MLAs for showing their ballot papers to Amit Shah, cited the precedent of how Randeep Surjewala's vote in a Haryana RS poll was cancelled for displaying ballot paper to the CLP leader. Since 'Surjewala act' was allegedly a scripted plot to trip the then nominee RK Anand, question is who scripted this Gujarat 'invalidation act'.

A blast from the past
Vikram Seth's mother justice Leila Seth had ticked off senior advocate Gopal Subramanium several times on English, he told the Supreme Court recently. Subramanium was remembering his stint as part of the JS Verma committee set up to suggest ways to prevent a Nirbhaya repeat. Self-deprecatingly, he referred to himself as the sole surviving member of that panel.

Sensitive to criticism
Congress members are wondering whether Jairam Ramesh, after his "Sultanate" remark, will now be a 'pariah' for party VP Rahul Gandhi. Apparently, the Gandhi scion is averse to such ' open' criticism. The last time someone close to him made such remarks in the media, he chose not to speak to him for over a year.
