Varun brigade making waves

Varun Gandhi Youth Brigade, a support organisation for Varun, is making waves in west UP and apparently has offices in 15 districts already. Their activities go under the banner, ‘Modi desh mein, Varun pradesh mein’. The social media support for this group is neat with the official page having over 46,000 likes. At least seven Facebook pages are dedicated to the group.

Advani centre of attraction

LK Advani, accompanied by daughter Pratibha, made a rare appearance in the Central Hall this week. After talking to BJP MPs in the back seat, LK and Pratibha exchanged pleasantries with other MPs. Many leaders, cutting across party lines, were seen talking to the BJP veteran. Among them was ML Fotedar, a 10 Janpath loyalist.

Javadekar’s task cut out

When green minister Prakash Javadekar decided to free sensitive defence projects from tardy clearance procedures, he got a most unusual call from his Cabinet colleague Nitin Gadkari. He wanted Javadekar to get an assurance from the defence ministry that it will expedite clearances for highway projects that passed through or near defence estates and were stuck for years.
