Minister in disguise
On the eve of Rangapanchami celebrations in Madhya Pradesh's Indore, state minister Kailash Vijayvargiya was unrecognisable. Dressed as a sadhu, he was wearing a wig and a fake beard. He even held a trident in his hand. Everyone in the crowd mistook him for a real sadhu and only when his identity was revealed that the crowd recognised him. Rangpanchmi is celebrated in Madhya Pradesh five days after Holi.

Multi-purpose banana trunk
Unhappy with a person for putting asmall-sized banana plant during the foundation stone laying ceremony of a bridge, AIUDF MLA from Bilasipara East, Shamsul Huda, thrashed Sahidur Rahman publicly with a banana trunk. Rahman works for the contractor of the bridge project. An FIR was filed against the MLA at Tamarhat police station in Dhubri. As per the complaint, lodged by the All KochRajbongshi Students’ Union, the accused legislator assaulted a contractor’s employee.


Sarma miffed over heavy security cover
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma was miffed with the state police for deploying a large number of personnel around him while he was meeting students and public at Deshbhakta Tarun Ram Phookan HS School in Silchar. The CM was heard saying, “Am I a thief or a dacoit? Why have so many police been deployed around me?” As per reports, the CM’s reaction was directed at Cachar district SP, who had arranged additional police personnel for Sarma’s security. The CM also donned the role of traffic police when he started regulating traffic at Ramrup in Guwahati’s vicinity.
