Jolted out of slumber
Politicians try to catch a wink in between their busy schedules. But recently Raju Waghmare, a former Congressman who is now in Shiv Sena, dozed off right in the middle of a press conference addressed by Neelam Gorhe in Shirdi. A little later, Gorhe sternly asked him in Marathi ‘utha atha’ (wake up now) and Waghmare was jolted out of slumber.

There’s a lot in a name

Voters of Dhing in Nagaon have a strange thing to complain about. Locals feel that weird names of their locality have become an object of fun for outsiders. They pointed out places such as Hargilla market (Greater Adjutants), named after two tall people who looked like Greater Adjutants, Shaitan Charali (devil crossroad) and Bandar market (monkey market).

Ready for ranking

MHA has initiated the process of selecting best police stations and has sought the help of a private consultant. Ranking will be based on infrastructure and feedback from those leaving the police station, pedestrians in a residential area and shopkeepers in a market. In 2022, MHA awarded the project to Transrural Agri Consulting. The report was released in 2023.
