Having burnt its fingers with the AIPMT question paper leak case that landed in court, the CBSE that organises a clutch of entrance examinations is now being extra cautious. So much so that for the Central Teachers’ Eligibility Test, even the ballpoint pen to be used on the OMR answer sheet was procured — near 7 lakh of them — and provided by CBSE for fear of digital pens.

Accessible India campaign

After Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the government is all set to launch Accessible India campaign, the next big ticket programme of the Modi government. The disability affairs department is gearing for the launch on December 3, which is International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The department is now hoping that Modi is ‘accessible’ for the launch and not travelling abroad.

Rao Inderjit’s smart Gurgaon mission

Gurgaon MP and Union minister Rao Inderjit Singh is pushing for inclusion of his constituency in the Smart City Mission. Haryana has not identified Gurgaon to be developed as a smart city. Now, the minister is lobbying hard with urban development minister Venkaiah Naidu to just put the "stamp" of smart city even if the city only gets technical know-how and not the funds.

Nigerian corpse: Any takers?

The external affairs ministry asked an assistant solicitor general to ring up the Nigerian Commissioner of Immigration. Reason: Court wanted to know the stance of the High Commission on the burial of one of its nationals whose corpse had been lying in the mortuary of a private hospital for over four months. Much to the lawyer’s chagrin, his SMS to the Nigerian High Commissioner remained unanswered.
