After the Lok Sabha poll debacle, Maharashtra’s Maha Yuti MLAs and ministers appear desperate. During a recent speech, NCP’s Hasan Mushrif spoke about how the state was giving free rations to those with pink ration cards, pulses to families and oil for `100 during festivals. He joked that the government has given so much that the only thing left is to visit people’s homes and cook for them. He said leaders are willing to do that too, provided people vote for them. Jayant Patil of NCP-SP took on Mushrif by saying that one should not be surprised if ruling Maha Yuti members even offer to give a bath to people to get votes.
Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah did a series of name changes during his first stint, including that of Bangalore to Bengaluru. Now, he has announced his plans to rename Electronic City after former CM, the late D Devaraj Urs. It comes weeks after his deputy DK Shivakumar pushed for renaming Ramanagar as Bengaluru South. The deputy CM says Bengaluru South will attract more investment. Not sure if the CM thinks so too!
