Rahul Gandhi and the AICC leadership may be putting up a social reforms face by talking about OBC politics and caste census. But, when it comes to releasing the Congress candidates' lists for the upcoming states polls, the Congress leadership struck to the Hindu conservatism, by avoiding the September 29-October 14 Shradh, the Pitru Paksha, period. But in stark contrast, the prouncouced Hindutva BJP leadeship went on to declare rather boldly its first list of Rajasthan candidates right during the Shrardh period.

The Parliament secretariat had arranged for a TV only in one of the two media rooms. Journalists watched Prime Minister's speech on Sansad TV. The effort to go to the venue, located near the Chandigarh highway and still only partly constructed, proved futile.
