Third eye: AAP MP made vice chairperson

Amid BJP versus AAP on Delhi's electoral pitch, the Rajya Sabha chairperson has nominated AAP's Rajya Sabha MP Vikramjit Singh Sawhney on the panel of vice chairpersons. Padma Shri Sawhney, a social activist and a philanthropist, tries to maintain a non-political profile in the House. He works especially among Punjabi youths and heads the World Punjabi Organisation.

Raj Bill Against Conversion
The Rajasthan government has introduced an anticonversion bill in the assembly. In 2023, the then state BJP chief Satish Poonia had moved a private members’ bill on the same subject in the House. The bill wasn’t accepted by the Ashok Gehlot-led Congress government. Now, it appears that the current bill borrows several provisions from the one moved by Poonia.
