CHANDIGARH: Cold conditions prevailed at several places in Punjab and Haryana, where heavy blanket of fog affected movement of vehicles for the second day today.

Dense fog prevailed at most places in the two states since early morning as visibility levels dropped considerably, a MeT official said.

Amritsar reeled under intense cold, recording minimum temperature of 2.4 degrees Celsius, two notches below normal.

Ludhiana and Patiala registered minimum temperatures of 8.8 degrees Celsius and 8.4 degrees Celsius respectively, which settled within the normal levels.

Chandigarh, which recorded a low of 8 degrees Celsius, was enveloped in thick fog this morning.

In Haryana, Narnaul was the coldest, where minimum temperature was recorded at 3 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal. Hisar recorded a low of 4 degrees Celsius, three notches below normal.

Cold weather conditions also prevailed at Bhiwani, where the minimum temperature settled at 5.4 degrees Celsius while minimum temperatures at Ambala and Karnal settled at 7.8 degrees Celsius and 7.5 degrees Celsius respectively.
