NEW DELHI: Observing that the mandate in favour of the Congress and Manmohan Singh is for a "stable and good government", the Prime Minister's Economic Advisory Council Chairman, Suresh Tendulkar, on Saturday said the new dispensation will lay more stress on economic reforms.

"Economic reforms would certainly be on top of the agenda of the government but let's wait for the constitution of the Cabinet," he said.

He said the mandate in favour of the Congress and Manmohan Singh is for a "stable and good government".

Asked whether the government this time would aggressively undertake economic reforms since the Left is not going to be a part of the government, he said, "Yes, I think there will be more stress on reforms."

On the prospects of economic growth, he said, "An economist is going to be in control of the nation. He is going to be the in-charge and that is a welcome sign for economic growth."
