There is a lot the world can learn from Israel: PM Narendra Modi

Just before start of his Israel trip, Modi has urged Indians in Israel to share their views with him, before he addresses them at a community programme on July 5.

NEW DELHI: Hours before his much-awaited Israel trip, Prime Minister Narendra Modi reached out to his admirers in the country telling them there was a lot the world could learn from Israel.

In an email written to registered users on the NM app in Israel, the PM said his visit to the country beginning on Tuesday would include visits to an innovative flower farm, a memorial for Indian soldiers and a memorial for holocaust victims.

He has urged Indians in Israel to share their views with him, before he addresses them at a community programme on July 5.


The PM has said that his visit was at a special moment, marking the 25 years of the establishment of relations between India and Israel. He said during his visit he would meet his friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu and call on President Reuven Rivlin.

The PM said he would also be visiting the Danziger Flower Farm to "learn about latest innovations and advancements in floriculture" and that he would also visit YadVashem "as a remembrance to those brave women and men who sacrificed their lives for values of peace and humanity." YadVashem is Israel's official memorial to the victims of the Holocaust.

The PM in his email also said he will visit the cemetery of Indian soldiers who fought in the First World War.

For his community programme on July 5, the PM has urged his friends and admirers in Israel to share their ideas with him on the specially created Open Forum on the Narendra Modi Mobile App.

Apart from disaster management and technology, the PM's visit is expected to focus on terrorism and counter-terrorism cooperation. There are interactions planned with business leaders too.
