Justice DY Chandrachud of the Supreme Court on Thursday expressed his displeasure on targeting of and imputing motives to judges.

During an oral mention seeking listing of a case pertaining to alleged violence and attacks on Christians, Justice Chandrachud remarked about criticism in a certain section of the media about judges not taking up the case.

"Give us judges a break. I was down with Covid and, hence, the matter was deferred. I read in the news that judges are not taking it up. There is a limit to targeting us," Justice Chandrachud verbally remarked.

A plea filed by the Archbishop of Bangalore Diocese Peter Machado and the National Solidarity Forum claimed that there was targeted violence against Christians by right-wing organisations. The petitioners sought registration of FIRs against the accused and investigation by special investigation teams into the alleged instances.

The petitioners also sought quashing of what they called frivolous cases filed by such attackers on the victims.
