To check border crimes, the Manipur government will strengthen the security along its around 390 km international border, Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh said that the government would set up more border outposts.

The state government plans to curb illegal peddling of drugs, exotic wildlife, various contrabands besides cross border crimes.

Inaugurating the Sangaithel police outpost in Imphal West district, the Chief Minister said that more outposts will also be set up along the India-Myanmar border to check illegal immigration, smuggling activities, and cross border crimes.


He said,“The BJP government has achieved peace and stability in Manipur under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Singh said.

Manipur's five districts share an unfenced border with Myanmar. The Manipur government is advocating that the free movement regime with Myanmar needs to be reviewed.
