Tharoor wants Kochi airport named after Karunakaran

Former Union minister and Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, has said the International airport at nearby nedumbassery should be named after the late congress leader K Karunakaran.

KOCHI: Former Union minister and Congress MP, Shashi Tharoor, has said the International airport at nearby nedumbassery should be named after the late congress leader K Karunakaran.

Karunakaran was instrumental in seeing the country's first airport to be constructed on a PPP basis become a reality.

Tweeting in his blog, Tharoor said .. ' In celebrating leader's life, I call4 Nedumbassery aiport in kochi to renamed Karunakaran International in honour of the man who made it'.

In another tweet, he wanted the statue of Karunakaran should be set ip in the assembly complex, an honour worthy of a three time chief minister.
