Tharoor to contest LS polls on Cong ticket?
Noted writer and columnist Shashi Tharoor may have lost the fight for the post of United Nations secretary general but, it appears, he’s making up for the loss by jumping into politics by joining Congress.
Senior Congress leaders here said Tharoor has expressed his willingness to join the party following a personal request from Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. The former UN under-secretary general told TOI, I have been especially invited by Congress president Sonia Gandhi to talk on terrorism. I have not been offered any position with the party.
Asked whether he would join Congress if offered a post, Tharoor said, First, let the offer come. The KPCC state conference, which started on Sunday, will conclude on Tuesday with a meeting of delegates.
The party leadership has asked him to associate with the activities of Congress. So, hes started his work from Thiruvananthapuram , a source said, adding: Hed certainly contest the next Lok Sabha elections from Thiruvananthapuram.
