Thackeray predicts downfall of Congress-NCP in Maharashtra

Thackeray said the voting out of incumbent governments in WB and TN predicted a similar fate for the Cong-NCP coalition in Maharashtra.

MUMBAI: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray today said the voting out of incumbent governments in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu was an encouraging sign and predicted a similar fate for the Congress-NCP coalition in Maharashtra.

"The Assembly election results are an indication of changes to come and the Marathi people should also be ready for change of power," Thackeray said. Maharashtra's Assembly elections are scheduled in October 2014.

Describing the results in West Bengal and Tamil Nadu as heartening, the octogenarian leader said the defeat of the governments in these states was a "good omen" for the Shiv Sena-BJP-RPI alliance.

"The Congress-NCP coalition will also meet a similar fate at the ballot box," he said.
