Madras High Court today issued notice to CBSE authorities, after a PIL sought to remove certain parts in Class 9 social science textbook, contending it showed Nadar community of the state in a bad light.

CHENNAI: Madras High Court today issued notice to CBSE authorities, after a PIL sought to remove certain parts in Class 9 social science textbook, contending it showed Nadar community of the state in a bad light.

A Division Bench, comprising Justices Elipe Dharma Rao and Aruna Jagadeesan, ordered notice to respondents returnable in two weeks.

S Rajendra Prasad Nadar of Coimbatore, in his PIL, also sought an unconditional apology from the Central Board of School Education for publishing "objectionable and derogatory" remarks against Nadars.

He further submitted that the Nadar community had made great sacrifices during the freedom struggle and produced political leaders, including former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Kamaraj.
