NEW DELHI: In a case of mistaken identity, a Home Guard attached to Dina Nagar police post survived the terror attack but was "captured" by fellow securitymen who took him for the fourth militant.

It did not stop there and a message was flashed to the national capital that a terrorist had been caught alive.

His "captors" were left red-faced when the man revealed his identity as a Home Guard attached to Dina Nagar police post.

When terrorists stormed Dina Nagar police station this morning, the man escaped a fusillade of gunfire and ran into a vacant building adjacent to it. He hid in one of the rooms amid the staccato of gunfire.

He appeared to have run out of luck when the the terrorists also holed up in the same building. Barely breathing, he waited till the sound of gunfire ebbed away.

After the three terrorists had been killed and security personnel began searching the rooms, he was found cowering in a corner.
