Terror threat to Bhakra Nangal dam, reveals IB report

The IB report points out that Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa could be looking to attack the Bhakra Nangal project and are also training cadres to attack dams in India.

NEW DELHI: There seems to be terror threat looming over one of India's biggest dams.

TV channel Times Now is in possession of an Intelligence Bureau report that warns that the Bhakra Nangal dam could be targeted.

The IB report points out that Pakistan terror outfits Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jamaat-ud-Dawa could be looking to attack the Bhakra Nangal project and are also training cadres to attack dams in India.

The Intelligence Bureau's warning also notes the threats made by LeT leaders at rallies in Pakistan.

JuD leader Abdur Rehman Makki warned in February 2010 of jihad over river waters. At a rally in February last year Makki said, "I promise that if India and Manmohan Singh block Pakistan's waters, we will let loose a river of blood."

Makki's open anti-India rant included not just the liberation of Kashmir but also the water dispute between India and Pakistan. "Heed this India- the Pakistan of jihadis... the Pakistan of Kashmiris vow.. if you steal our water... Rivers of blood will flow," Makki said.
