Terror plot terrorist Asadulah Khan alias Asad Khan arrested by the NIA

NEW DELHI: A man wanted in connection with multiple terror plots in Karnataka and Maharashtra and identified as Asadulah Khan alias Asad Khan was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) from Mumbai airport after he was deported from Saudi Arabia.

Khan a member of terror outfit Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) was detained by Saudi Arabia onIndia's request for his alleged role in the criminal conspiracy to kill prominent religious persons, journalists, police officials at Bangalore and Hubli city in 2012.

The last time the Saudi authorities helped in a terror related case was that of deportation of Syed Zabiuddin Ansari alias Abu Jundal in 2013, the only Indian present in the LeT control room in Karachi during the 26/11 Mumbai attacks of 2008.

The NIA in a chargesheet filed in the case in 2013 has claimed that Khan allegedly participated in two meetings in Riyadh and Dammam in 2011-12 and helped in recruitment of young men from Karnataka and Maharashtra to carry out the attacks.

Fifteen members of the LeT module have already been arrested. Two members also underwent firing practice at Dandeli forest and Bidnal village of Hubli district in 2012 by their handler- Ustad Zakir.

A resident of Hyderabad, Khan also helped in mobilising funds for the LeT module, said NIA.
