MUMBAI: The country’s capital will see warmer evenings and nights until the end of this week, the weather bureau said on Monday.

"Warmer night temperatures are likely to continue over the plains of north India during next five days," the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Elsewhere in the country, parts of Madhya Pradesh and central Maharashtra will see thunderstorms, with a possibility of hail storms, as it becomes the first non-coastal region in the country to receive rain in 2021.

"Light to moderate rainfall at a few places with isolated thunderstorm, lightning & hailstorm likely over east Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh during 16-17 February," IMD said, adding that the rain might move westwards by February 18.

The weather bureau has issued ‘orange’ alerts for the subdivisions of Madhya Pradesh, interior Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, and Vidarbha.

The orange alert advises authorities to be prepared in case of any damage due to these weather events.
