Submitting a 14-point charter of demands, the delegation urged the Prime Minister, among others, to introduce the Backward Classes Bill in Parliament, create a separate ministry for OBCs and extend social security legislation for OBCs on the lines of the SC/ST Atrocities Act.
The TDP MPs also sought removal of the creamy layer classification for OBCs and introduction of post-matriculation and pre-matriculation scholarships for the community at the central level along with the liberalisation of National Backward Classes Corporation loans.
Thota Narasimham, the TDP leader in Lok Sabha, said that the Prime Minister gave a patient hearing to the delegation's demands concerning the welfare of OBCs.
