Telangana stir to continue till goal is achieved: Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar
Congress MP Ponnam Prabhakar on Wednesday asserted that the agitation for a separate Telangana state will continue till the goal is realised.
"We will continue our agitation till Telangana (state) is achieved," the Karimnagar MP, who resigned from his post early this month in support of the statehood demand, said.
Prabhakar was addressing Congress workers and others at the 'satyagrah' organised by the party to press for granting statehood to Telangana region of Andhra Pradesh.
He asked the participants to draw inspiration from the freedom struggle and continue their fight for the long-pending demand in a peaceful manner.
Prabhakar appealed to the students not to end their lives for the statehood cause as "we will get Telangana soon".
He pressed for the acceptance of resignations of the public representatives who have quit over the Telangana cause.
Prabhakar criticised Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy for his statement that services of retired employees will be utilised when the Government staffers in Telangana go on a strike next month.
He appealed to the retired personnel not to cooperate with the Government in this aspect.
Minister for Civil Supplies D Sridhar Babu and MLC N Laxman Rao, who are among the lawmakers who have submitted their resignations, also took part in the satyagrah.
