Telangana reports 2.8K Covid-19 cases, recoveries cross 1 lakh mark
Telangana on Thursday reported 2,817 Covid-19 positive cases, taking the state’s tally to 1,33,406 cases. The state said males accounted for more than 64% of the infected people.

Telangana said the case-fatality rate on account of Covid-19 amounted to 0.64%, less than half of the national average of 1.75%. The bulletin said 46.13% of the deceased had died of Covid-19 while 53.87% passed away due to comorbidities. In the past 24 hours, 2,611 persons recovered, taking the total recoveries to 100,013 in Telangana by Wednesday night, said the health bulletin. The recovery rate in the state stood at 74.9%, lower than the national average of 77.09%.
By Wednesday night, the state reported 32,537 active Covid-19 cases, which included 25,293 persons in either home or institutional isolation. On Wednesday, the state tested 59,711 samples, one of the highest in any single day, taking the total number of tests by Telangana to 15,42,978 to date. The health department said the results of 2,537 samples were awaited. By Wednesday night, the number of tests per million people amounted to 41,560 in Telangana. Of the total samples tested on Wednesday, 45% were primary contacts, while 14% were secondary contacts, said the bulletin.
