HYDERABAD: Telangana remained peaceful today with no untoward incident reported during the 24-hour state- wide bandh called by Communist Party of India (Maoist), against policies of the new TRS government.

"It is like any other normal day. No incident was reported. We have not taken anybody into custody. As a precautionary measure, we stepped up security in bordering districts like Khammam," a senior police official told PTI.

The bandh was called to express resentment of some Maoist groups over policies brought in by Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Except educational institutions, all other public services remained open in Karimnagar as well, which was once considered as a stronghold of naxals.

Petrol pumps, talkies, commercial establishments, banks and government offices remained open and there is no impact on Road Transport Corporation bus services, Karimnagar police said.

Barring a few incidents of road-blocking in Charla and Venkatapuram mandals in Khammam, no impact was seen in Warangal. RTC bus services, in some parts of Warangal, was however, suspended last night but resumed this morning, police said.
