Telangana Rashtra Samithi demands Centre to relook Krishna river water sharing issue
TRS MP K Kavita, daughter of Telangana CM K Chandrashekhara Rao told ET that it was one of the most important issues for the new states.

TRS MP K Kavita, daughter of Telangana CM K Chandrashekhara Rao told ET that it was one of the most important issues for the new states, and that water resources minister Uma Bharati had promised to help in this regard.
"The Krishna flows through Maharashtra, Kar nataka, Telangana and Andhra. Of this, 68% of the river flows through Telangana while it gets only 30% of the water. Riparian rights are supreme wherever in the world you go,"she said. "I also explained to her how, till now, Andhra leaders had represented our interests and due to which a lion’s share of our water is now not with us. I told her to use the latetst GPS technology to verify on the ground just where the water goes, for years Krishna water had been diverted to the Penna river basin, through the Pothireddy Padu project,"she added. "We agitated but couldn’t prevent it. A separate award is the only thing that will redress the balance," she added.
Bharati assured the delegation that she would address it "positively."
"Uma Bharatiji has been with us in the movement and supported us throughout. She was very warm and positive and promised to look in to the matter," added K Kavita.
