Tension prevailed in Parigi as police chased away the protestors who raised pro-Telangana and anti-Naidu slogans and hurled stones at Naidu's convoy. One of the SUVs in the convoy was damaged in the stone-pelting.
A police constable was also injured. The TRS workers demanded that Naidu clearly spell out his stand on separate Telangana state.
A TDP leader accompanying Chandrababu Naidu claimed that TRS workers and a few BJP men mobbed the residence of Parigi MLA K Hareeshwar Reddy when the TDP chief stopped for breakfast.
"They tried to storm into the MLA's house and pelted stones at Naidu's convoy vehicles and damaged window panes. When some television cameramen tried to record that, they too were beaten up, resulting in injuries to some," he said.
Following this, the police immediately swung into action and caned protesters.
At Chevella, too, the activists tried to block his convoy but police thwarted the attempt. Later, the Leader of Opposition continued his tour and addressed a public meeting at Tunkimetla.
Naidu was on his way to Mahbubnagar district to interact with farmers on the fertiliser scarcity being faced by them. He was scheduled to stage a dharna in front of the district Collectors office in Mahbubnagar.
