Telangana meet after parties ready with their views: Chidambaram

Union home minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to "have patience" over the Telangana issue.

NEW DELHI: Union home minister P Chidambaram on Tuesday appealed to the people of Andhra Pradesh to "have patience" over the Telangana issue and said he would convene a meeting of political parties from the state on the matter only when all of them are "ready" to give their views.

Refusing to give a date for the meeting, Chidambaram said: "It is only when all parties are ready to come and give their views then I can call a meeting...I can't give a date."

He said the government was considering the recommendations of the Srikrishna Committee. "If we invite all the eight parties to the meeting, it is my hope that they will come..," he said.
