HYDERABAD: The Telangana government may lose about Rs 3,000 crore of revenue this financial year due to demonetisation of high currency notes, Chief Secretary Rajeev Sharma said here today.

Sharma while briefing the Central government official Reddi Subrahmanyam, who visited the state to study the impact of demonetisation, said many poor people have lost their livelihood and construction workers hit due to the Centre's decision.

Sharma appealed to the official to make special assistance to the state, besides releasing the dues of Central Sales Tax (CST), a state government release said.

Sharma made other demands, including extending the deadline of November 24 for making utility payments, providing Rs 10,000 in cash for state government employees and increasing circulation of small currency notes.

Subrahmanyam said his visit is aimed at having first hand information on the impact of demonetisation and that he would submit a report to the Centre on the help to be extended to the state.
