Telangana crosses one-lakh mark Covid-19 cases, death toll reaches 744

The fatality rate in the state on account of Covid-19 stood at 0.73%, lower than the national average of 1.89%.

Hyderabad: Telangana reported 2,474 Covid-19 positive cases on Saturday, taking the state’s tally to 101,865. Males accounted for more than 65% of the infected people.

The state public health department said in a bulletin on Saturday morning that seven people had succumbed to the virus in the 24 hours till Friday night. This pushed up the death toll to 744.

The fatality rate in the state on account of Covid-19 stood at 0.73%, lower than the national average of 1.89%. The government reported that 46.13% of the deceased had died of Covid-19 while 53.87% passed away due to comorbidities.


According to the bulletin, 1,768 people recovered in the past 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 78,735. The recovery rate in the state stood at 77.29%, higher than the national average of 74.30%.

By Friday night, the state reported 22,386 active Covid-19 cases, including 15,931 persons in either home or institutional isolation.

The state tested 43,095 samples on Friday, taking the total number of tests to 891,173. The government said it was awaiting results of 1,239 samples. The number of tests per million people amounted to 24,004 by Friday night.
