Telangana crosses 91,000 mark in Covid-19 cases, death toll reaches 693

HYDERABAD: Telangana on Sunday reported 1,102 new Covid-19 cases, pushing the state’s tally to 91,361. More than 65% of those infected are men.

Officials said 9 people had died due to the disease in the 24 hours till Friday night, taking the death toll due to coronavirus-led complications to 693. The case fatality rate for the state is 0.75% compared with the national average of 1.94%. Of the deceased, 46.13% have died of Covid-19 and 53.87% due to co-morbidities.

The state said 1,930 people had recovered in the last 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 68,126. The state’s recovery rate is now 74.56% compared with the national average of 71.6%.


There were 22,542 active Covid-19 cases as of Saturday night, which included 15,502 persons in either home or institutional isolation.

The state tested 12,120 samples on Saturday, taking the total tests done in the state to 744,555. Results of 1,046 samples were awaited. The number of tests per million people stood at 20,054.
