Telangana crosses 82,000 mark in COVID-19 cases, death toll reaches 645

Telangana on reported 1,896 new Covid positive cases on Tuesday, which take the total to 82,647 cases by Monday night, consisting of 65.1% men and 34.9% women. The state announced suffering 8 Covid deaths afresh, taking the total death toll to 645, translating into a case fatality rate of 0.78% as against the national average of 2%. Of the deceased, 46.13% died of Covid and 53.87% due to co-morbidities.

Telangana announced 1,788 recoveries over the past 24 hours to take the total recoveries to 59,374 persons, constituting a recovery rate of 71.84% as against the national average of 69.33%. By Monday night, the state saw 22,628 active cases, which include 15,554 persons in either home or institutional isolation where about 84% were asymptomatic.

Over the past 24 hours, Telangana tested 18,035 samples to take the total to 6,42,875 tests to date. By Monday night, the state was awaiting results of 959 samples. The tests per million population amounted to 17,315.8 by Monday.
